At MagicSchool, we believe AI safety and responsible AI start with protecting the privacy of educators and students. We’re proud to share that we’ve earned a 95% privacy rating and the Common Sense Privacy Program Verified Seal, placing MagicSchool among the top-ranked AI tools in education.

As part of the most recent review, our privacy score increased from 93% to 95%, reflecting continued improvements to transparency, student data protections, and responsible AI practices across the platform.

What is the Common Sense Privacy Seal Program?

The Common Sense Privacy Seal Program reviews EdTech products to evaluate how they handle user data. Companies that meet high standards for transparency, security, and responsible data use receive a verified seal.

Products are assessed on a 200+ point rubric that examines privacy practices across the issues educators, parents, and school leaders care most about.

For schools and families, the seal signals a product they can trust. It shows that a platform goes beyond checking legal boxes and demonstrates a clear commitment to protecting user data.

As part of the Common Sense Privacy review process, we strengthened the transparency of our external-facing Student Data Policy so educators, families, and districts can more clearly understand how student information is handled and protected across our platform.

These updates included:

• Clear explanations of what student data may be processed and how it is used strictly to support educator tools and classroom use
• Strong safeguards governing the storage, protection, and access of student information
• A privacy-by-design approach, including transparent data retention and deletion practices intended to minimize the storage of student data
• Greater clarity around our responsible use of AI within educational tools
• Reinforcement of age-appropriate design principles and a commitment to acting in the best interests of children

The review process also included validating internal data protection practices across our AI-powered tools and ensuring those protections are accurately and transparently reflected in our publicly available policies.
